DWIGHTMESS: What would you say is your favorite publication that you've made? Could you describe the story and materials you used to make it? What did fully realizing something that came from your imagination mean to you?

Veronika Rossi: This changes very often. I did a comic last year called “Unrest” which I was (and still am!) extremely proud of. I put a lot of work into it and pushed myself in terms of panel layout, camera angles, and expressions and posing. The story was about my characters Ellie and Deli experiencing weird things around the motel they live in, eventually discovering they have mysterious powers. This is a part of my ongoing series “The Full-Moon Inne” which follows Ellie and Deli as they learn about their past and their family. I primarily work with traditional media, and this project was no exception. I used a Uniball pen and a Tombow marker, and then printed it in two colors with a risograph printer. While I look back at it and think “Oh man, I wish I had done this or that differently”, I’m still pretty proud of it. I’m currently working on the sequel for my senior capstone project, though I think it’s more apt to say that it’s the final chapter of this part of Ellie and Deli’s story. I’ve put in countless hours working on it and I know that once it’s all completed, that will be the piece I’m happiest with!
